About Ciello
The estate is owned by the Vesco family who took over ownership of the one-hundred-hectare site around 10 years ago. They modernised the winery and made sure that the vineyard was certified organic as soon as was possible. The vineyards are all situated between 150-300 meters above sea level allowing for a gentler ripening period in the hot Sicilian climate. The results are more elegant wines that express the land. The wines of Ciello are an excellent introduction to natural wines with the funkometer dialled down on this 100% Catarratto. A pure joy to drink.
Tasting Notes
Bags of tropical fruits, lemon and a nice amount of body. Grapefruit on the palate keeping it fresh but, as mentioned, nicely balanced with a bit of weight. This wine is unfiltered so can be quite cloudy, nothing unusual for this style of wine. Fantastic value entry level natural wine.
