About Good Hope
Committed to high quality and sustainable practices the winery also delivers exceptional value for money. Given the push towards a greener way of wine making its a true inspiration they deliver wines, like this Pinot Noir, at the price. Founded in 1988 their focus is on natural production, although the vineyards are not certified organic. They promote biodiversity in the vineyards as a way to control unwanted pests, good microorganisms eating the bad ones basically. they use birds of prey rather than poison to keep the rodents at bay and compost to move away from bought in man made fertilisers. In the winery the approach is low intervention keeping sulphite usage down to a minimum with fermentation driven by wild yeasts and not inoculated.
Tasting Notes
Soft, fruit driven and very approachable South African Pinot Noir. A sweet core of berry fruit and a soft texture that grips without drying. Good core of acidity makes this riper Pinot Noir elegant rather than jammy. An amazingly well priced Pinot.
