About Hacienda Grimon
Run by the Oliváns family who have been making wine in Rioja for generations. Grimon is run by Paco and Eliseo Grimon, their 25 hectares of vineyards can be found in a small corner of the Rioja Alta known as Valle de Jubera. They don't see the need to be certified because it's the way they've always farmed, but they are organic. All their wines from entry level to the top are harvested by hand so only the best grapes are picked. The style of Grimon is very much on the fresher side of Rioja, as the brothers want their wines to show the character of the soil, the varieties and the climate.
Blackberry, black plum, vanilla and pepper straight from the glass, this is unmistakably Rioja, though more modern in style. The oak is present and gives the spice and the roundness you expect but the fruit is allowed to play a starring role. It would be criminal to hide the quality of the grapes that make up this wine and Grimon has made sure that the Tempranillo characteristics are on show. Great value for money.
