About Les Vignerons d'Estezargues
This cooperative in the small town of Estézargues is a hop, skip and a jump from Avignon. Most growers within a cooperative pool their grapes to vinify together. This is very standard in France and it allows growers to share costs and make wines that can compete. Many great wines come from cooperatives so never think that a cooperative is naturally lower in quality than a single estate, like all things in life, it depends on the individual. Les Vignerons d'Estezargues do it differently however. The growers in this little group decided to vinify separately to make singe cuvees as to not dilute the individuality of their vineyards, they also decided that the cooperative would make natural wines. It really is a very special cooperative which has made more than few waves in the world of wine.
Tasting Notes
Ripe red/dark fruit aromas and that characteristic garrigue and pepper notes. Lovely softness in the mouth with velvety tannins and confit fruits building across the palate, hints of tobacco and leather and a nice spine of acidity from the Syrah as well as some spicy blackcurrant fruit
