About Domaine De Buis-Rond
Quentin is a great example of the quiet change that has been growing in Beaujolais. He has a clear philosophy to make terroir specific wines. The Harel family have owned vines in Saint-Étienne-des-Oullières since 1768 and Quentin took over from his father 2012. The vineyards are located primarily around the Buid Rond, planted on an unusual blend of clay, sand and flint, with some limestone in ‘Les Grand Terres’ producing wines of delicacy and fragrance. In 2011 Quentin purchased 1 hectare of Charmes in Morgon, a vineyard consisting of manganese, granite and schist, which has been farmed organically since 1998, to add to the consistently organically farmed vines of the estate.
Tasting Notes
From 1 hectare of Les Charmes purchsed in 2011. The lighter style of Lieu Dit in Morgon suits Quentin's style, with red fruit, spice and elegance being to the fore. The fruit has 10 days cuvaison with whole bunches and then aged in 500 litre oak barrels for 8 months.
