About Gonzalo Grijalba

Born in Logrono, Gonzalo was a child of the vines, his parents cultivated vineyards in Fuenmayor. He studied biology in Leon and oenology in Rioja and travelled through Europe learning through experience about the many ways to make wine with little intervention. On returning to Spain he started to make wines his way and vowed not to be influenced by wine fashion trends or short cuts. His wines are natural, pure and exciting.

Tasting Notes

This is a very glugable natural wine made from, mainly, Viura. Soft orchard fruit and medium bodied, it’s fresh and fun. It’s the embodiment of the non-conformist that created it and is in our wine rack waiting for just about any occasion. The label and the name (Big Pig) are a poke at the bankers who refused Gonzalo loans to pursue his ambition in wine, you have to love him for that.
