About Gonzalo Grijalba
Born in Logrono, Gonzalo was a child of the vines, his parents cultivated vineyards in Fuenmayor. He studied biology in Leon and oenology in Rioja and travelled through Europe learning through experience about the many ways to make wine with little intervention. On returning to Spain he started to make wines his way and vowed not to be influenced by wine fashion trends or short cuts. His wines are natural, pure and exciting.
Raspberry and dark berries with a floral note of violets give way to something a little more earthy. Its Tempranillo with no oak so it sings of the variety, no vanilla here! Its got Tannin and acidity to balance out the fruitiness. There is no doubt about it, the wines of Gonzalo Grijalba are ridiculous value for money and represent natural wines without the funkiness.
