About La Stoppa
The La Stoppa estate was bought by the Pantaleoni family in 1973 and has been run by Elena Pantaleoni since the mid-nineties. Giulio Armani is the driving force in the vineyards where organic and biodynamic farming methods are an intrinsic part of the estate’s ethos. Yields are low as many of the vines are over 40 years old. In the winery, fermentation is spontaneous using wild yeasts and no sulphites are added. Skin contact with the juice is long and the wines undergo ageing in oak to mellow and mature the wines. The key term here is low intervention, little given and nothing taken away.
Beautiful purple colour with sweet cherries and spice intermingling with earth elements. The fruit is ripe and, make no mistake, this wine is full but the experience is lifted by a fantastic zippy acidity. This needs something rich like Ossobuco. Italian wine at its best.
